Studio Policies
At Stardust Vocal Studio, clear and thoughtful policies help create a respectful, consistent, and supportive learning environment for all students.
The following studio policies outline expectations around tuition, attendance, scheduling, cancellations, makeup lessons, illness, and studio closures. Please review carefully before enrolling or continuing lessons.

Tuition Payments
Stardust Vocal Studio uses a flat monthly tuition model for weekly and bi-weekly lessons. Tuition is calculated using my standard hourly rate and an average of four lessons per month.
What this means:
Tuition remains the same whether a month has 3, 4, or 5 lessons
Some months may include fewer lessons due to holidays or studio closures, while others may include more
Over the course of the year, this structure balances out and your weekly time slot remains reserved.
Paying monthly tuition guarantees your place in my schedule. Missed or unpaid tuition may result in the release of your lesson time to students on the waitlist.
Important:
Stripe, the studio’s payment processor, applies a 3% convenience fee to all credit card payments.
ACH transfers incur no transaction fees.
Referral Rewards
First referral: Receive 10% off monthly tuition for 3 months when your referred student enrolls.
Additional referrals: Receive one makeup lesson credit per additional referral that signs up, valid for use within one year of the issue date.
Discounts
Families receive 10% OFF regular tuition for all lesson durations when an additional family member enrolls.
This discount does not expire.
College Student Rates
A limited number of sliding-scale lesson spots are available for currently enrolled college students ONLY. Rates are offered at 10–15% off standard tuition, based on financial need, availability, and schedule compatibility.
Student rates are reviewed each semester and cannot be combined with other discounts. Valid and current student ID is required.

Makeup lesson credits are available for lessons canceled by either the student or the instructor, in accordance with the policies below. Makeup lessons may only be scheduled during regular studio operating hours and are not offered during studio closures, holidays, or breaks.
Student Cancellations (Regular or Makeup Lessons)
Cancellations made with 24 or more hours’ notice are eligible for a makeup lesson credit.
Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice are not eligible for a makeup credit.
Makeup lessons that are canceled within 24 hours of the scheduled time will be considered used.
Teacher Cancellations
Any lesson canceled by the instructor will automatically qualify for a makeup lesson credit.
Switching to Online Lessons
With prior communication, an in-person lesson may be switched to an online lesson on the same day, provided both the student and instructor confirm the change in advance.
No-Shows
If a student arrives 15 minutes or more late, the lesson will be considered a no-show and will not qualify for a refund or makeup credit.
Makeup Credit Expiration & Limits
All makeup lesson credits expire one (1) year from the date they are issued.
To ensure fairness and scheduling availability for all students, there is a limit of four (4) active makeup credits per student at any given time.
This is equivalent to approximately one month of missed lessons for weekly students or two months for bi-weekly students.
If you anticipate missing additional lessons after reaching this limit, please contact the studio to discuss scheduling options.
This policy goes into effect on January 1, 2026.
-
Scheduled lesson time represents the allocated duration for instruction and collaboration.
Respecting Others' Time: Punctuality is not only a sign of commitment but also a demonstration of respect for the teacher’s time and the learning environment.
Grace Period: A grace period of 5 minutes can be granted to accommodate unforeseen delays. However, due to the back-to-back nature of scheduling lessons, this may not always be possible.
No Automatic Extensions or Makeups: Students arriving beyond the grace period will not automatically receive an extension for the lesson due to the back-to-back scheduling. Additionally, makeup sessions for missed time will not be granted. It is imperative to prioritize punctuality as you are accountable for managing your own time.
Preparation: All students’ are expected to have all appropriate materials required by the teacher.
Pausing or Discontinuing Lessons
If you wish to pause or discontinue lessons, please use the contact form below and submit your required 30-day notice.

Stardust Vocal Studio operates year-round with a small number of planned closures to support instructor wellness, studio programming, and long-term sustainability. Closures are scheduled intentionally and communicated well in advance so families can plan accordingly.
Below is an overview of the studio’s annual closure guidelines. Specific dates are published each year on the Studio Calendar.
Spring Break
The studio observes Spring Break around the first weekend of April, being closed for three (3) business days, typically from Friday to the following Tuesday.
Juneteenth - June 19
If June 19 falls on a weekend, the studio observes the holiday on the preceding Friday.
Independence Day Break
The studio observes Independence Day with a two-business-day closure aligned with the July 4 holiday.
When July 4 falls on a weekday, closures typically include the holiday and the adjacent business day.
When July 4 falls on a weekend, the studio observes the holiday on the preceding Friday and Monday.
Final dates are determined annually based on calendar alignment and published in advance.
Labor Day
First Monday of September
Thanksgiving Break
Fourth Thursday and Friday of November
Winter Holiday Break
Stardust Vocal Studio closes for a two-week Winter Holiday Break at the end of December, reopening in early January. This break supports rest, reflection, and preparation for the upcoming year.

Additional Notes
Lessons are not held during studio closures. Because no lessons are scheduled during these periods, makeup credits are not issued for closures.
Because monthly tuition is a flat rate, closures are factored into the annual calendar and balance out over the year.
Exact dates, special events (recitals, camps), and any updates are always reflected on the Studio Calendar.
